So, I stumbled upon this fic a long while back when I was new to lj and fandom and didn't really know the netiquette of commenting and such. I keep coming back to read this one and realized, much to my chagrin, that I never commented. I'm such a jerk. This is most definitely one of my favorite Sam/Cas stories, I always rec it to anyone who's looking for some tasty Sassy fic, a pairing which is quickly displacing Dean/Cas as my OTP.
Anywho, all of the things that I love about this fic are too many to list, but I can definitely say that my favorite was the long, slow burn of it. The way you made it build from drinks between friends to a slightly awkward, but sweetly romantic relationship. It was very much in character and I absolutely adored your Sam voice. The writing was so subtle and yet powerful at the same time. I liked how some of the small stuff could be the most affecting. Like this:
"Castiel stares openly at Sam's mouth. "You're..." Then his eyes meet Sam's."
That one just gut-punched me. It was so simple, but said so much. And this:
"They both go for the kiss at the same time, Sam thinks, although he can't be too sure because he can't look at Cas these days without wanting to kiss him"
So sweet, but without being overly schmoopy. Love. Just adore this fic. I think I've read it at least four times. So, I thought I'd let you know. You rock.
